Project Background

Building community & guiding strategic investment

Based in Lancaster, PA, The POGIL Project is a national nonprofit organization that is dedicated to improving teaching and learning. It supports educators in implementing student-centered instructional approaches through professional development and the publication of peer-reviewed classroom materials.

Over multi-year engagements, I helped their team refine their messaging and produce high-quality print assets to tell their story, galvanize their community, and inspire major donors.

messaging strategy

Refining messaging to reach new major donors

In order to prepare for major donor outreach in 2023, The POGIL Project’s team wanted to create a Case Statement that explained their approach to teaching and learning and made a case for deeper investment.

I helped the team identify messages that would ease friction in meetings with major donors and foundations, then developed a narrative architecture for the Case Statement. The multi-page appeal incorporated storytelling, research, and evidence of The POGIL Project’s success.

COPYWRITING

Telling the story of an evolving organization, year after year

For the past five years, I’ve spearheaded the organization’s annual Community Report publication process. Together with Associate Director Marcy Dubroff, I help identify and shape stories that reflect the organization’s biggest successes.

I manage publication development from start to finish, aligning internal stakeholders on priorities and goals for storytelling and overseeing creative direction. Once we identify the best stories for the year, I conduct interviews within The POGIL Project’s community of practitioners, write interior copy, and collaborate with the designer to create the final publication.
